THE VOICE

So up pops another singing / performance based competition. So we now have X-Factor, X-Factor USA American Idol, Britains Got Talent, America's Got Talent and now..."THE VOICE" So the voice is now in it's second season and made it's debut after Sunday's Superbowl (Did you see Madonna and LMFAO shuffling to Party Rock Anthem. That was a good performance right?...Anyway Back to "The Voice")

Marketing Perspective: That is possibly the greatest time to put a show on, directly after the Superbowl. The viewing numbers must have been ridiculously high.

So I decided to give "The Voice" a look and I can say after 7 minutes I was already hooked.

WHAT THE FRACK IS...THE VOICE?

The Voice is a singing based talent show whereby each person auditioned is judged solely on their voice. So why didn't they just call the show...
"Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover" (maybe that's a bit too long) I take it this show was created due to the whole Susan Boyle audition.

There are 4 judges these are...
"Adam Levine" lead singer of the grammy award winning group Maroon 5 ("I got the moves like Jagger"). "Cee-Lo Green" ("Fudge Youuuuu"). "Christina/Xtina Aguilera" ("Let's Get Durrrty") and some other dude named "Blake Shelton" I didn't know who this guy was but after conducting my research through my most trustworthy source of information "Wikipedia" he is an American country music artist. (That figures) .

Like any other talent show the judges decide whether that singer is good enough to go through to the next show. However the twist to the show is that the judges cannot see the person performing, which is why they call it the "Blind Auditions". The judges sit in these revolving chairs with their back to the performer. If the judge likes what they hear then they push a button down which turns their chair around so they can see what that person looks like. By pushing that button down they agree to mentor that act throughout the competition. The judges have up till the end of the singers performance to push their button and if no judge pushes their button then that person leaves the competition. If more than one judge pushes their button its up to the performer to choose who they will like to be mentored by.

This is where it can get nasty as the judges begin to bash one another and state their case as to why the singer should choose them. At the end of the day it's all about bragging rights for each judge and I guess the more acts a judge has, the better chance they have of winning. But it's not all about the judges, the winner of "The Voice" receives a $100,000.00 cash prize and recording contract with Universal Republic Records home to artists such as "Florence & The Machine", "Drake", "Kelly Rowland" and "Jessie J" just to name a few.

I like the concept behind the show and how it works. The judges work well together and make it great entertainment on TV. It also eliminates crappy singers being put through to the live stages because they have "the image" when they sound like s**t I think it's much better than American idol  as that show just seems like it has been on TV for too long now and is up there with X-Factor (Simon Cowell you better watch out). I'm definitely staying tuned in to "The Voice" every week.

Catch "The Voice" on NBC for US viewers
unfortunately its not available to watch on UK television, but that's the beauty of online TV
We don't get to miss out on anything overseas.
