Look Out, There's Another Serial Killer Is On The Loose!
So I'm up late the other night as you do and I saw an advert for this new show on Sky Atlantic called "The Following" I saw Kevin Bacon so I kinda assumed it was another one of those "EE" adverts that continuously pollute our TV screens. But as the advert progressed and I saw a few dead bodies and talks about serial killers I kinda thought this is a bit strong to be selling a phone network. I sat forward now intrigued as I started to imagine years back when I found out about "Dexter".
Mobile phone in hand I began researching and investigating more into the show and watched a few more trailers. I don't know why though to be honest as I was already sold by the first advert. So I decided to watch the first episode and I was not disappointed. Master serial killer villain, helpless victims, action packed and suspenseful with a touch of gore. Just how I like my TV shows.EPISODE 1 (Beware "SPOILERS" are lurking)
So this killer patterns his work after Edgar Allen Po you know that guy who believes "The Eyes Are The Window To The Soul" so this killer removes the eyes from his victims. (Nice) The episode begins with Mr. Serial Killer escaping from a prison where he has been put away for killing a few girls. However one of these girls managed to survive and testified against him in court and now he wants to finish the job. With a few flashbacks we begin to somewhat understand who this man is and get a little back story. This killer is definitely good at what he does and you kinda wonder how he seems to get around unnoticed. *SPOILER HERE IT COMES* Until the revelation appears that he is getting help and he has developed some sort of cult / fan club of people willing to do his bidding. Now after being captured and put into police custody the killings seem to continue which gave me traces of Gerard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen. *END OF SPOILER*
After a very interesting first episode I'm definitely intrigued to find out what is going to happen in the coming weeks. I must say this a good start to the new year in terms of TV. So this gets a thumbs up from me and a seal of approval. Still not sold? Then have a look at the trailer for "The Following" here...
